The Coalition Is Switching To Unreal Engine 5

The Coalition, the team behind Gears of War, announced they will now use Unreal Engine 5 to develop their next-gen titles.

During a worldwide pandemic, the studio released their first strategy title, Gears Tactics; re-launched Gears 5 and Tactics on Xbox Series X|S, plus updated Gears 5 with new content.

"We’re excited to start shifting our resources to next-gen development using Unreal Engine 5," wrote the team. "Gears of War has always been at the front of Unreal Engine development – as a breakout 720p title for Xbox 360 through last year’s 120FPS multiplayer update for Xbox Series X|S – and we’re excited to continue that tradition by developing on UE5 for multiple new projects in the coming years."

They also noted that they don't plan to announce any new projects for some time. Lastly, they are now hiring. You can find the full blog post here.
