Americans Spent 42% More On Games in January

NPD reported US game spendings increased 42% in January 2021. 

NPD reported a 42% increase in US game spendings in January 2021. 

According to the report,  hardware sales were 144% higher due to the launch of the new consoles and made up $319 million. The PS5 sales made the top of the list, while Nintendo got the best sales in terms of systems. Switch Unit unit sales got back to the level of the Wii since 2010.  Spendings on consoles, mobile, PC, cloud, and subscription services were 36% higher than usual and reached $4.17 billion. 

In full games sales, Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War remains in the leading position, Call of Duty: Modern Warfare moved from the 26th  place in December to the 8th position in January, Cyberpunk 2077 made a major shift from second place to the 18th.
