An Upcoming App for Turning 2D Images Into 3D Meshes

Developer Yi Shen has shared a couple of demos, teasing the app and demonstrating how it works.

Web Developer Yi Shen has recently shared a couple of demos showcasing an absolutely astonishing application currently in early development. Powered by WebGL, a JavaScript API for rendering interactive 2D and 3D graphics, the app can automatically convert 2D images into 3D meshes and supports ray tracing. Moreover, the program enables the user to voxelize the resulting mesh and adjust the level of voxelization, effectively allowing one to turn a photo of any object into an appealing LEGO-style model and then export it to use in other programs.

According to the developer, the application is still WIP and will be released once all of its features are complete. We highly encourage you to follow Yi Shen on Twitter so as not to miss any future updates.
