Dead Island 2 Finally Hits Steam After Epic Games Store Exclusivity

After a year of exclusivity on the Epic Games Store, Dead Island 2 finally made its way to Steam yesterday. 

Dead Island 2 lets players journey through a zombie-ridden Los Angeles as an infected yet immune character. This action RPG continues its predecessor's melee combat legacy within an open-world setting.

However, the Steam debut has been bittersweet. Some players expressed their excitement to finally see this game on Steam and said it was worth the wait; some are happy that the game is "playable" on Steam Deck.

Meanwhile, negative comments, which contributed to the game's 'mixed reviews' and a score of 63 on Steam, despite scoring 73 on Metacritic, expressed unhappiness about having to connect to Epic's Online Services to play the game.

In response to one such negative review, a developer replied:

Despite the mixed reception, Dead Island 2 is currently available on Steam with a 50% discount, which will end on April 30. If you don't mind to connect Epic Games Launcher for crossplay, check it out on Steam before the offer ends.
