Duke Nukem Parody Game by Mega64 Will Finally Be Released After 13 Years?

Will Doug Huggem be an April Fools' Day joke?

Who needs the violent Duke Nukem when you can spread love with Doug Huggem? 13 years after its announcement, the parody game from Mega64 is finally coming on March 31. Or is it?

Doug Huggem "instills good Christian values in its players and promotes well-being [and] thoughtfulness." It teaches players to care about the world they live in and hug instead of killing – "nobody dies, everybody wins."

The 2011 video announcement ends with a release date – March... of 2024. Mega64 hasn't forgotten about this promise and reminded its fans that the game is coming:

"Mega64 is finally releasing their first video game ever: DOUG HUGGEM. And it's coming out exactly when we said it would all those years ago: March 2024. This game will take you to a place no modern title dares to go: a place of unfiltered compassion. This is a first person adventure that reshapes the "shooter" into the "sharer;" a thriller that finds bravery in kindness, reward in benevolence, and shows us all how to reach for our manners before our pulse rifles.

Look forward to playing DOUG HUGGEM on March 31, 2024!"

Non-believers, however, doubt the existence of the game. Considering modern trends in the industry, Doug Huggem will most likely be stuck in the development hell, the "workers" will be laid off, and the title will get delayed until April 1 when it'll be discarded as an April Fools' Day joke.

But if it did exist, I wonder if it would be as good as the crazy Dragon Ball Z video starring Hideo Kojima and Gabe Newell the team produced in 2022.

Let's hope we'll see Doug Huggem one day, from Mega64 or some enthusiastic modders.
