EA Sports Is Reportedly Close to Signing a £500M Deal with the English Premiere League

The new agreement is said to be more than double the previous deal between the parties.

EA Sports is reportedly close to finalizing a commercial deal with the English Premier League, potentially valued at around £500 million.

As reported by Sky News which cites sources close to the matter, the proposed deal, which is expected to span six years and will be worth approximately £488 million (this is reportedly more than double the previous deal between the parties), has been communicated to all 20 Premier League clubs during a meeting on Friday.

Sky News also says that, according to one football club executive, the deal would yield the Premier League over £80 million per year and involve EA Sports retaining its exclusive electronic game license while continuing to serve as the league's primary partner.

Last May, Electronic Arts revealed that it would be ditching the FIFA brand, and starting in 2023, its football sim franchise will be called EA Sports FC. At the same time, according to EA, the gameplay, modes, and extensive collection of club and player licenses will remain largely unchanged from what we expected to see in the FIFA games.

"In terms of things that they'll miss, players will notice only two things: The name and a World Cup piece of content every four years. Outside of that, very little will change about the things they know, and love about the current FIFA products," EA Sports vice president David Jackson said at the time.
