After a long time since its first announcement, Fallout 4's highly anticipated next-gen update has finally arrived. However, it seems that PC players are not reaping many benefits from the 14GB patch, contrary to expectations.

After players installed the patch, they started experiencing lots of technical difficulties, and numerous reports of various issues surfaced in discussions about the game on Steam.

Here are common problems encountered in Fallout 4 following the patch release:

  • Errors loading previous saves that utilized mods;
  • Inability to use third-party mods, such as Fallout 4 Script Extender (F4SE), with the extension's creator working on an update without a confirmed release date;
  • Frequent crashes were reported, particularly on PCs with GeForce RTX attributed to the Weapon Debris graphics setting;
  • The stretched user interface on ultra-wide monitors, a feature expected to be supported after the patch installation.

Additionally, numerous players voiced complaints in the discussions regarding the lack of noticeable changes in graphics or loading speed following the release of the update. It is crucial to highlight that Bethesda rolled out a patch for PCs, not a next-gen update like those for consoles, indicating that no graphical enhancements were expected on computers.

As for the next-gen patch for Xbox Series X|S and PS5, developers introduced graphics modes featuring 4K resolution and up to 60 FPS support.
