Former StarCraft II Developer Teases a New RTS Set to Revolutionize the Whole Genre

Uncapped Games hasn't disclosed any details on the upcoming title yet.

Uncapped Games, the gamedev studio comprised of seasoned veterans, including those from Blizzard who worked on StarCraft II, is developing its own real-time strategy game poised to advance the genre. CEO David Kim, the former Lead Designer for StarCraft II's multiplayer, highlighted this ambition in a recent documentary.

As was stated in the documentary, it looks like the RTS genre has seen minimal evolution since the 1990s, with only minor changes to controls and functions. Uncapped Games aims to shake up the traditional RTS formula by infusing more action and eliminating the repetitive base-building routine at the start of matches. While economy and leveling will remain crucial, gameplay mechanics will be simplified to cater to casual players, reducing the emphasis on mechanical skills and reaction speed. Hardcore fans will still have the option to ramp up the challenge.
