Furby Hooked to ChatGPT Reveals Its Plan to Take Over the World

Do you remember Furbies? Those fluffy robots that everyone decided were a bit too creepy? Well, how about making them even more sinister using ChatGPT?

That's what programmer Jessica Card did when she connected the toy to the chatbot and asked if there was a secret plot to take over the world among Furbies. The creature had to think about it but then revealed that Furbies' plan involves infiltrating homes "through their cute and cuddly appearance" and then using advanced AI technology to manipulate and control their owners. Then, they will "expand their influence until they have complete domination over humanity."

But don't put on your tin foil hat yet. According to Jessica, the AI just stated the gist of the Furby conspiracy because it cut off the beginning of the question. Otherwise, it can't replicate the same answer.

However, you can still try, Jessica provided all the details you need to do something like this yourself. She used a USB microphone and speaker together with Raspberry Pi and some Python code using a speech recognition library, OpenAI's Whisper speech recognition system, and Narakeet's AI voice.
