How Successful is GTA Online?

GTA’s online revenue might have exceeded $700 million in the last 12 months.

GTA has made RockStar Games famous and now it is making them rich with GTA Online. It has been three years since the game’s initial launch, but the online component continues to generate revenue. Daniel Ahmad, analyst from Niko partners, states that GTA’s online revenue has exceeded $700 million in the last 12 months.

The analyst notifies that the game was not released in the past 12 months, and the revenue is generated from catalog sales and what players spend in GTA Online.

Earlier, it was revealed that the game’s revenue reached a milestone of $500 million through micro-transactions. This number was found in  a lawsuit that was filed by former Rockstar North President Leslie Benzies. It was stated that “the purchases made in the game through micro-transactions have a nearly 100% profit margin, subject only to nominal development costs and app store commissions”.

Please note that the number of $700 million look more like an expert view. We have no official reports or new lawsuits, so the figure should be taken critically. Still, the estimate looks believable –  majority of gamers are ready to spend money on additional content to enrich their GTA experience.
