According to recent reports, Ascendant Studios, the creator of the shooter game Immortals of Aveum, has recently placed a majority of its employees on extended unpaid leave. This update was shared by Game Developer, citing a post on LinkedIn by Kris Morness, Principal Engineer at Phoenix Labs.

Morness mentioned that approximately 30 people at Ascendant Studios have been furloughed.

Polygon reporter Nicole Carpenter partially corroborated Morness' information. Her sources also mentioned enforced unpaid leave but did not specify the number of affected employees. The duration of this leave also remains unknown.

In September 2023, Ascendant Studios laid off around 40 workers, which was almost half of its staff, right after the release of Immortals of Aveum because of its poor sales.
