Monster Boy is a new game from FDG Entertainment, which is the spiritual successor to Wonder Boy. The project is being developed by French company Game Atelier. A couple of weeks ago, the developers finally published the first gameplay footage of the project and it looks very nostalgic.

The game is already finished and we’re going to hear much more about this project in the upcoming month. The game started as a Kickstarter project called Flying Hamster 2. It was organized by Game Atelier. Gameplay-wise the game was heavily inspired by Wonder Boy. The setting and the characters were different. FDG Entertainment decided to support the studio and the project.

After a while, the studio was contacted by by Ryuichi Nishizawa – the creator of Wonder Boy. It appears, that he was also a fan of Flying Hamster project. he decided to support the game as well. This way the team got access to assets from the whole series, but not the title of the game. Wonder Boy brand still belongs to SEGA. That’s why the developers chose to name the game Wonder Boy.

Thank you for all your patience while we’re still working on the game. Oh what a year it was! We’ve made a lot of progress on the game but as you know we couldn’t make it in 2015 as we want the best possible quality for you. We hope you enjoy the gameplay snippets that you can see in the video and we’re so looking forward to 2016! The year in which we can finally release the game to you and have fun together!
