Now, the series is paused again.

After the Dead Space remake's release last year, many fans hoped for a new game in the series, but it doesn't seem they'll see anything any time soon.

According to Bloomberg, the franchise is on hold at EA again and has been since last spring. Several months after the remake's launch, a small team at the developer Motive discussed ideas for Dead Space 4, but they were never approved.

When the remake eventually failed to meet EA's expectations, the team moved on, Bloomberg's sources say, and started exploring other projects, while a part of the developers who worked on Dead Space moved to different titles. Now, Motive is working on an Iron Man project and a new Battlefield game.

Dead Space 3 was launched in 2013, and it's high time for a new entry, although I doubt there will be anything in the next several years.

Rumors of a canceled Dead Space 2 remake emerged yesterday, but EA and then Bloomberg's Jason Schreier denied them: "There is no validity to this story," said an EA spokesperson.
