New Battle Royale from Ready Player One Creator Announced

It's a Web3-based metaverse experience.

Readyverse Studios, a company co-founded by Ernest Cline, the author of Ready Player One, has announced OPEN, a Web3-based metaverse battle royale game powered by Unreal Engine.

"OPEN, the hero experience in The Readyverse, is the first genre-defining AAA metaverse gaming experience, interoperable with top-tier IP through web3 tech. A multi-biome, multi-IP, multi-mode battle royale experience, in development for PC and next gen platforms, will set the stage for the future of gaming."

The creators promise "nostalgia-infused biomes with characters and cultural legends across iconic franchises" set in game-show-styled, multi-round game modes (something like THE FINALS I guess).

"Showcasing a variety of gaming disciplines with tactical positioning, sly movement, strategic shooting, and driving skills taking center stage. Collaborate with allies, strategize for advantages, and immerse yourself in intense gameplay sessions."

OPEN is developed by Walker Labs, an "independent, venture-backed video game and next-gen web technology developer" and will be published by Readyverse Studios. It will be coming to The Readyverse, a "multi-world, multi-IP interoperable open metaverse" created by Cline and Futureverse.

I compared it to THE FINALS, but it also reminds me of MindsEye, an AAA action game for EVERYWHERE, a game experience that blurs the line between reality and the digital world by Build A Rocket Boy, a team led by one of the creators of Red Dead Redemption and GTA Leslie Benzies.

There is no release date for OPEN, but you can sign up for early access here. Also, join our 80 Level Talent platform and our Telegram channel, follow us on InstagramTwitter, and LinkedIn, where we share breakdowns, the latest news, awesome artworks, and more.
