Evil Empire, the developer behind the upcoming The Rogue Prince of Persia, shared in the latest update why they chose to launch the game into early access.

According to the game's Marketing Manager Matt Houghton, Evil Empire is intentionally releasing its roguelite game into early access as it'll allow the creators to gather valuable feedback and elevate the game to a higher level.

Launching games into early access has an overall positive impact that helps many studios. Houghton pointed to successful titles like Hades, Subnautica, Slay the Spire, and Baldur's Gate 3, which significantly improved with player feedback.

"We want to make the best possible version of the game, and to do that, we want to work with you, the community. So, we'll be releasing constant updates throughout the Early Access testing – before, during, and after – with you, the players, if you want to be a part of it. If not, you can wait until 1.0; that's fine. But we'll be hanging around in the Steam forums and Discord."

The developers have revealed that The Rogue Prince of Persia's early access will launch as a fully developed game, not an alpha version. Players can expect a substantial amount of content, with ongoing updates to expand it further. The early access phase is anticipated to last approximately a year, or possibly slightly longer.

Scheduled for release on May 14, 2024, The Rogue Prince of Persia has been created by the Evil Empire, known for Dead Cells, and published by Ubisoft.
