Nintendo NX will debut in June

Nomura Securities reports that new console Nintendo NX will be unveiled in June 2016. Journalists believe that the console will “cannibalize the existing sales of 3DS and Wii U“.

Analyst Junko Yamamura believes that Nintendo NX will be available for purchase by 2016 end. The early “concept” of the device will be presented sometime between March and May. The launch of the device is to happen between October and November.

We had previously thought that the NX launch would have only a limited impact on 3DS and Wii U sales as it is not being positioned as a successor to either console, but we have now altered our view because 3DS sales have been weakening a little recently, particularly in terms of software, as the machine enters its sixth year, and to factor in a harsher competitive climate and what happened to other existing consoles when new machines were launched in the past.

So far we know very little about the next game console from Nintendo. Previous game system Wii U showed some very modest sales and could not really compete with Xbox One and PlayStation 4. Nintendo 3DS was also unable to repeat the success of its predecessor, due to the massive amount of games on mobile devices. PS Vita also suffered because of the same factors. It’s interesting to learn what kind of device Nintendo will present for the modern generation of gamers.
