PUBG: Battlegrounds is going back to where it all began, bringing back its very first Erangel map for a limited time.
Following in the footsteps of Fortnite, PUBG: Battlegrounds has announced it's bringing back Erangel, the very first map from Early Access days. No doubt the developers are hoping the nostalgia does for the PUBG the same record-breaking rise in popularity it did to its rival last year.
Erangel Classic preserves the essence of the original version of Erangel map with minor visual updates, keeping the appearance and the atmosphere authentic. Upon entering the map, you will be greeted by familiar rainy weather, bench weapons, UI, and "charmingly tacky" fonts to immerse you in 2017 nostalgia.
On top of bringing back the original locations and the gloomy weather, this journey to the past will also rebalance weapons.
While the developers claim it's not an exact replica of the original recoil, you'll still be able to reminisce about those early PUBG days with reduced gun recoil. Once you've landed on the island, search for the Tommy Gun in the care packages and grab clothes and helmets from the floor, just like in the good old days.
Apparently, knocking down enemies will also require more time.
The chance to revisit the iconic world and recall the cherished moments shared with friends is going to be available to players for a limited time.
Erangel Classic will replace the current game's map in Normal Match for two weeks from May 14 to May 28 for PC, and from May 23 to June 6 for consoles.
