S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2: Heart of Chornobyl Delayed Until 2023

The highly-anticipated sequel of GSC Game World's S.T.A.L.K.E.R. is being delayed again. The news was first revealed during the recent Xbox & Bethesda Game Showcase, where the game appeared on a slide listing games which are slated to release in the next 12 months.

S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2: Heart of Chornobyl was originally planned to release in April 2021, although in January the studio announced it would postpone the launch of the game to December 2022 to have enough time to "to fulfill [the studio's] vision and achieve the desired state of the game."

Earlier this year, the development of the title was paused but in May, via the game's official Discord community, GSC Game World revealed that it continues working on the sequel, although at the time, the studio didn't provide any additional details including the release date.

Following the Xbox & Bethesda Game Showcase, GSC's public relations manager Zakhar Bocharov confirmed to PC Gamer that S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2 is set to release in 2023. He shared that GSC planned to announce the delay in the coming days, but this information already became known a little earlier than the studio expected.

The S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2 website also updated the release date for the game. It's currently unclear exactly how far into 2023 the game is set to release but hopefully, GSC will provide more details throughout the year.

S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2: Heart of Chornobyl will release for Microsoft Windows and the Xbox Series X|S and will be the fourth installment in the S.T.A.L.K.E.R. series and the first S.T.A.L.K.E.R. game in 13 years since the release of Call of Pripyat in 2009.
