Sons of the Forest Reaches a Concurrent Player Peak of 269,000

The game managed to reach this number within just three hours of its release.

Sons of the Forest, a sequel to the 2014 survival horror video game The Forest, launched in Early Access yesterday, and just an hour after its release, the number of concurrent players on Steam surpassed 80,000 people.

Two hours after the release, this number grew to over 253,000, and currently, the 24-hour concurrent peak reaches 269,563. Additionally, at the time of writing, nearly 167 people are playing the game.

Sons of the Forest is a survival horror video game developed by Endnight Games and published by Newnight. It follows a group of soldiers tasked with finding a missing billionaire on a remote island. The island is infested with cannibals, and in order to survive, players have to craft, build, and struggle.

The game offers the option to play in either single-player or co-op mode. Regardless of the mode chosen, an NPC companion named Kelvin will accompany the main characters. While Kelvin is unable to speak, players can communicate with him through notes in a notebook.

In addition, players can recruit a three-armed and three-legged mutant Virginia as well as several other companions to help them on their journey.

It's unclear when the game's full release will take place. Earlier, developers revealed that they had to release the game in Early Access to avoid another delay.
