SteamIdFinderreports that the billionth Steam account belongs to amusedsilentdragonfly. The account was created on April 28, 2019.
It’s amazing how many people use Steam on a regular basis. However, the data is not entirely correct, since a large percentage of these accounts are either duplicates, spam, or bots. If these numbers were true, every seventh person on the planet would be a PC gamer.
Several months ago Valve announced that they had over 90 million monthly active users. One year earlier the service had about 67 million active accounts. The growth can be partly attributed to a spike of Steam’s popularity in China. Asian player base can be now compared in size to the US and Western European ones.
This year Asian region contributed over 87.5% transactions to Steam using non-standard payment options.
