StemCell Advisory Council Announcement

Formally released earlier this year, TurboSquid’s StemCell initiative is designed to provide a path for traditional 3D artists to create multiple products from a single 3D asset.

New Orleans, Louisiana, August 3, 2017 — TurboSquid, the world’s largest 3D marketplace, announced today the inaugural members of the StemCell Industry Council.

Formally released at the Game Developers’ Conference earlier this year, TurboSquid’s StemCell initiative is designed to provide a path for traditional 3D artists to create multiple products from a single 3D asset. StemCell allows 3D artists to upload a model created in one format to TurboSquid’s servers, where direct conversions are automatically generated and rendered in all other supported application formats. This includes conversions to and from different modeling packages, renderers, and game engines.

The StemCell Industry Council represents many of the leading computer graphics software companies and professionals who are actively looking to broaden the opportunities for 3D to be used by professionals and consumers alike.  The members share the vision that TurboSquid’s global 3D artist network should be able to produce content that will flow cleanly into their ecosystems and provide real value to their users through the StemCell specifications. Members of the StemCell Industry Council are helping drive that spec forward through regular contact with the TurboSquid team.

“We are honored to have so many industry stalwarts helping drive the TurboSquid StemCell specifications,” noted Matt Wisdom, TurboSquid CEO. “Their real-world experiences and passion for the 3D industry are helping 3D artists — including the millions on TurboSquid — to be able to create format independent 3D models that work with traditional, real-time, and new 3D applications.”

The StemCell Industry Council Members include Stefano Corazza, Senior Director of Engineering for Adobe; Melissa Austin, Senior Field Technical Artist, Amazon Lumberyard; Jason Bay, Senior Product Manager, Amazon Lumberyard; Frank Delise, Senior Director, AR/VR Interactive Group, Autodesk; Lon Grohs, CCO, Chaos Group; Ken Pimentel, Senior Product Manager, Enterprise Group, Epic Games; Shane Griffith, Senior Product Manager, Foundry; Jeff Russell, Engineer & Co-Founder, Marmoset; Paul Babb, CEO, Maxon for the Americas; and Koshi Hamedi, Director of Strategy, Microsoft 3D Group. Bios for the StemCell Industry Council Members can be found at TurboSquid.
