Titanfall 3 "Has to Be the Right Thing," Says Respawn CEO

Respawn CEO Vince Zampella expressed his desire to make Titanfall 3 but emphasized that "it has to be the right thing" if it were to happen.

Respawn's Titanfall 2 failed to meet sales expectations, casting doubt on the future of the franchise. Adding to this, Apex Legends, which shares the same universe as Titanfall, has far exceeded its predecessor's commercial success. These factors have contributed to doubts about whether we'll see more Titanfall games.

However, now, it turns out that there is still a possibility that another game in the series will be released. In a new interview with Barron's, Respawn CEO Vince Zampella spoke about the prospect of Titanfall 3, expressing a cautious openness to the idea. While he acknowledged the risks of raising fans' hopes, he admitted that he would really like to bring the project to life.

"I hate to say yes, then people latch onto that, and then skewer you when it doesn't come," Zampella said. "But I would love to see it happen is the real answer".

Despite his interest in the project, Zampella clarified that Respawn is not actively developing Titanfall 3 and has no specific plans for it, although, judging by his words, it seems that the company has given some thought to the idea.

"It has to be the right thing," the head of the studio said. "It’s such a beloved franchise for the fans and also for us. If it is not the right moment in time, the right idea, then it just doesn’t make sense."

It's worth keeping in mind that these remarks shouldn't be taken as a confirmation of a new Titanfall game. While game company CEOs may endorse ideas in theory, there's no guarantee they'll come to life. Nonetheless, Zampella's repeated mention of Titanfall in interviews suggests a genuine affection for the franchise, so there's a chance we may see a new game someday.

Titanfall 2 failed because it was launched, and smothered, by the release of two other large AAA games. A complete marketing failure for an incredibly awesome game.
