3D Metasites by 80.lv Community: Cyberpunk Street

This week, we would like to highlight this amazing experience by talented Senior Environment Artist, Yehor Perepelytsia. Explore and wander through the night in this intriguing backstreet of a European city, where narrow streets are illuminated by neon lights, and an old retro-style diner sits just around the corner!

Cyberpunk Street was inspired by Yehor's passion for the cyberpunk genre and his desire to create a cyberpunk project. This inspiration originates from his trip to Barcelona a few years ago, particularly the mysterious Gothic Quarter district captured in his photos. The goal was to recreate the narrow streets and intricately detailed facades of the area, while also incorporating elements of cyberpunk. Yehor blended old architecture with retro-tech features and neon lights, drawing influence from the original "Blade Runner" movie, which served as his primary inspiration, as well as references from "Cyberpunk 2077," the "Batman Arkham'' series, and even a touch of "Dishonored.

 “You will find yourself in a backstreet of an old city, where darkness is perpetual and rain never ceases. "High tech, low life" epitomizes the setting, with its grimy streets strewn with neglected trash that nobody bothers to address. Amidst this atmosphere, you'll discover an abandoned retro-style diner. Though aged, it remains cozy.”, stated the artist. 

During the period of creation, the artist was in the process of learning Blender, which led to a fusion of assets modeled in both 3DSMax and Blender. Texturing followed a conventional path, utilizing Substance Painter (adequate for the tilables employed) and Photoshop. Yehor's inclination towards creating everything from scratch resulted in the omission of Megascans. The buildings were conceptualized with a modular approach in mind. Initially constructed in UE 4.27, this project has since been migrated to UE 5.2, requiring certain adjustments to lighting to accommodate Lumen.

This experience comprises two level packs created by Yehor for the UE Marketplace: Cyberpunk Backstreet and Cyberpunk Diner.
