A YouTuber Learned Blender in 24 Hours

The YouTuber Sara Dietschy shared her experience of learning Blender in the quickest way possible.

The YouTuber Sara Dietschy has recently published a video demonstrating how she learned Blender just in 24 hours. The girl explained that the decision to challenge herself with this task was inspired by another YouTube video entitled "I Forced Myself to Learn Blender – 100 Hour Progress" along with her desire to create 3D models of what she referred to as "Animal Crossing retro game style interior design voxel art-ish stuff."

Sara shared that before trying to use Blender, she already had a little experience working in a program called MagicaVoxel which turned out to be very helpful as the interface there was very similar to Blender, so she quickly learned the basics of the new software.

Sara started to create her project with some googling and after a while, she found a tutorial on the specific interior design she wanted to make which provided detailed instructions and was only 15 minutes – which, as she thought, was great as it suited her aim to learn Blender quickly. However, in fact, watching the entire tutorial took her two hours.

She explained that the video she found was not exactly straightforward, so after every 10 seconds of watching the tutorial she had to stop and search for some additional information on the internet for another 30 minutes. She still wanted to stick to this tutorial as it showed the instructions to the same model she wanted to create but decided to skip some steps to make the workflow faster.

Sara shared that learning Blender on her own was really difficult and after working for 2 hours she already felt exhausted, so to speed up the learning process she turned to the Blender community on Twitter and found a tutor who taught her several techniques and gave some tips on using the software. She also used some pre-made assets and duplicated some objects instead of creating the unique ones to finish the project on time.

Working every weekend for over a month, setting up a timer every time she worked in Blender, Sara eventually managed to complete the project in 24 hours. She noted that she can see some mistakes she made but thinks it still looks "decent" as it was her first project made in Blender.
