Blender Will Get A RenderMan Plugin

Pixar announced that Blender users will have an official RenderMan plugin.

The integration will be released as a part of RenderMan 24 featuring the renderer’s latest features, including the team's new CPU/GPU rendering system RenderMan XPU.

Previously, Blender users could use PRMan, a semi-official add-on from a team of Pixar engineers released with RenderMan 20. It’s now available on GitHub, but it doesn’t support latest features of RenderMan and Blender.

The plugin will support the latest version of Blender, and the team noted that it will work with Blender 2.90 and future 2.9 series releases.

The new integration will support RenderMan’s current RIS architecture, plus RenderMan XPU, their new hybrid CPU/GPU rendering system. Users will also be able to get their hands on Stylized Looks, the ILM-developed Lama layered material system, plus new OSL pattern nodes.
