Companies Cancel Their Attendance at GDC 2020

Due to the Coronavirus epidemic, game dev companies, including such giants as Epic, Unity, and Microsoft, announced that they will skip the conference this year for the sake of their employees’ health.

Coronavirus has been spreading rapidly across the globe for the past months now, and it has got a huge influence on the gaming industry, and Game Developers Conference, in particular. 

A number of game dev companies, including Epic, Unity, Microsoft, Sony, Kojima Productions, Amazon, and EA, have officially announced that they withdraw their attendance due to health safety concerns. 

Among others, SpeedTree, a company that develops a 3D toolkit for vegetation, tweeted about their decision to skip the event this year.

So has stated the Audiokinetic team.

Fiona Cherbak, Talent Acquisition Lead at Microsoft, won’t attend the conference, either.

Artstation announced that they won’t continue their plan with Gnomon on Gnomon & Artstation Mixer at GDC.

Vicon, the leading company in developing motion capture systems, withdraw their attendance, too.

UPD. Amazon pulled from the show floor as well.

Despite such changes in the list of attendees, GDC organizers stated that the conference will go as planned.
