Darkest Dungeon II Has Been Released

After two years of being accessable only in early access, Red Hook Studios' sequel to their renowned roguelike has finally been launched.

Red Hook Studios has finally launched Darkest Dungeon II, a highly-anticipated turn-based roguelike and a sequel to the team's renowned 2016 Darkest Dungeon. Having spent two years in early access, being available exclusively via Epic Games Store, the newly-released version 1.0 of the game has been launched on Valve's platform as well, with the team noting that they are " thrilled to be back on Steam".

Described as a "roguelike road trip of the damned", the new dungeon crawler will feature 12 playable characters with a complete narrative featuring five acts. Each act is a challenging expedition in which you assemble a party of four heroes and then navigate a series of deadly regions in a quest to reach the Mountain, which houses an imposing end boss themed to that particular Confession.

According to the team, the sequel will also feature similar yet improved combat mechanics, an immersive roguelike gameplay, with each expedition lasting from 30 minutes to several hours, and a familiar art style.

Furthermore, much like with the first installment in the series, the game will be well supported post-launch, with the developers planning to release a slew of free content and quality-of-life updates, as well as novel modding tools, sometime in the future.
