Here's How You Can Groom a Lion in Houdini With No External Plug-Ins

Vinayak Patwariya shared a short breakdown offering a look at the grooming workflow behind the recent Lion project.

Vinayak Patwariya, a talented CFX and Groom Artist at SPINVFX, has recently shared a follow-up on last week's Lion project, presenting a condensed breakdown of the grooming workflow in Houdini, a procedural 3D software developed by SideFX.

In a short one-minute video, the artist demonstrated how the creature's realistic-looking fur was made 100% in Houdini without using any external third-party plug-ins, showed how photos were used as references to ensure that the digital lion looks as closely as possible to its real-life counterparts, presented the fur at different stages of production, and more. You can watch the full breakdown attached above or by clicking this link.
