Hitman Dev IO Interactive Is Working on a New Online Fantasy Game

The game, codenamed Project Fantasy, is an online RPG that appears to be a third-person adventure that will operate on a subscription-based model.

IO Interactive, the studio behind the Hitman franchise, which is also currently busy with a James Bond game, has revealed that it working on something completely different from what we are expecting to see from it. The studio announced that it is now creating a new IP that will be an online fantasy RPG.

The developer noted that it is building a new game "from the core" and that its world will feel familiar, while at the same time, it will be an entirely new experience, unlike anything the studio has worked on before.

Details on this new game are currently scarce and it is unlikely that we'll hear any news about it in the near future. Apparently, the game is in the very early stage of development and, according to the announcement blog post, IO Interactive is now looking to expand its team for this new project.

Job postings on the studio's website provide some further insights into the game. For instance, the description of the Senior Combat Designer role reveals that the game is set to be a third-person adventure. Meanwhile, the Senior Product Manager will be responsible for devising a monetization strategy for the new project, which could imply that the online game may operate on a subscription model.
