Silent Hill 2 Remake Aims to Be "Faithful" to the Original Title

However, it will feature some "adjustments" as the team wishes to make the game "more appealing to the contemporary audience."

The Silent Hill 2 remake from Bloober Team announced by Konami in October 2022, is set to "faithfully stick to the traditional story canon" but will feature reworked gameplay and graphics updated from the ground up, according to the developer.

In an interview with Dread XP, Bloober Team's chief marketing officer Anna Jasińska shared some details about the game promising that the team is not "missing the point" while bringing the title to life.

Jasińska mentioned several times that the developers are "not straying away from the original concept" and "remain faithful to the original title" while trying to modernize the game making it "more appealing to the contemporary audience."

"We are focusing on bringing the distinct, visceral atmosphere back in the modernized Silent Hill 2. Longtime fans shouldn’t worry about us 'missing the point' while we’re livening up the title," she said. "We faithfully stick to the traditional story canon while remaking the gameplay and updating the graphics from the ground up."

Jasińska also noted that the team is approaching all the changes in the game carefully. Still, there will be some "adjustments to certain areas" which have to be done for the sake of modernizing.

One of these changes includes the over-the-shoulder camera which, according to Jasińska, alters "the perspective of a few iconic set pieces." Jasińska didn't do into details about what other changes we should expect in the remake, however, judging by the announcement trailer, the game will also feature improved visuals and overhauled combat system.
