Tencent's TiMi Reportedly Earned $10 Billion in 2020

That number, if true, would make TiMi, the developer of Call of Duty Mobile, the world's largest developer.

Tencent's TiMi, the developer of mobile games Honor of Kings and Call of Duty: Mobile, generated $10 billion in revenue in 2020, Reuters reports. This number, if true, which seems to be the case, would make TiMi "...the world's largest developer", leaving behind such giants as Activision Blizzard and Valve.

Reuters notes that "In a recruitment notice last month, a Timi engineer wrote that the company aims to create a new AAA game that resembles the virtual community from the movie Ready Player One, and will "compete head-to-head against big powers from Japan, Korea, Europe, and the U.S." Given the company's profits, AAA games from TiMi are just a matter of time.

It is important to note, that the exact number of TiMi's 2020 profits is unknown, the $10 billion is only an estimation by Reuters' sources. However, a week ago, Tencent reported 156.1 billion yuan ($23.79 billion) in overall online game revenues for 2020 and TiMi makes up for 40% of it.

It is currently unknown what major titles should be expected from the developer, but with their claims about making a Ready Play One-inspired game, it is possible, that Tencent is planning to create a competitor for such online games like Roblox and Fortnite.
