In a recent interview, Steve Ellis, former Founder of Free Radical Design and one of the creators of the TimeSplitters series, shared that since their studio was closed (thanks to Embracer's restructuring program) and projects were canceled, he might be giving up on the beloved franchise.

He also mentioned that the negative experience of working on the TimeSplitters 2 remake for Plaion and the Embracer played a role in his decision.

"It's probably the end of me being involved with TimeSplitters," Ellis explained. "I don't know if Plaion or Embracer will do anything with it. I don't know what it would take to get me to want to go through all that again. It was a big letdown," he shared with GamesIndustry.biz.

Speaking of some future plans, Ellis shared that he may be working on another project and admitted to having Unity open in front of him during the interview.

"I did have an idea that I would do something that wasn't games. But… I always end up gravitating back. It's what I've done for nearly 30 years," concluded Ellis.

Earlier today, we reported that Ellis spoke up about the leak of the TimeSplitters 2 remake, saying that it'd be "pointless" to clone Fortnite since they had lots of other concepts.
