While Palworld Loses Fans, Players Argue It Happens to Every Game

I'm sure the 3% left of its peak glory are happy with what they have.

You don't have to be a fan of Palworld to admit its phenomenal success: with a peak concurrent player count of 2.1 million on Steam, it's one of the most popular games out there. However, nothing can last forever, and today, only 63,603 people played it at the same time, which is about 3% of its best result – a pretty rough drop, especially since in February, it still had 30% of its playerbase.

Players, however, argue that it's expected from an Early Access game, especially a non-live-service one. I'd say any popular title faces a dramatic drop at some point. For example, take Baldur's Gate 3: the Game of the Year saw 875,343 concurrent players at some point but now has 107,575 Steam users only, which is around 12%. Does it make the RPG bad? No, so you should not bother too much, especially since Pocketpair is working on updates.

Palworld's resemblance to Pokémon is largely to blame for the game's overwhelming success, but it might get its own identity down the road, once the developers have more to offer.
