505 Games and Giant Squid finally announced the release of ABZÛ. It’s a massive new exploration title, that lets you dive under the surface of the ocean and marvel at the underwater beauty. The project is available for PlayStation 4 and PC. The name ABZÛ derives from ancient Sumerian language; AB, meaning water, and ZÛ, meaning to know. ABZÛ is the ocean of wisdom.

ABZÛ is a beautiful underwater experience that evokes the dream of diving. You will be immersed in a vibrant ocean world full of mystery and bursting with color and life. Playing as the Diver, you’ll discover hundreds of unique species based on real sea creatures and form a powerful connection with the ocean. Descend into the heart of the sea on a quest to unravel the mysteries of this world, but beware, dangers lurk in the depths.

The game is developed by the highly skillful and creative guys from Giant Squid Studios. The team is led by Matt Nava – the art director of Journey and Flower. The game features some amazing usage of Unreal Engine 4. It’s got beautiful stylized materials, masterful work with the lighting and the camera work. We’d love to arrange a more detailed talk with the development team about some of the technical challenges they’ve had during this production.
