Celebrating 10 Years of Minecraft With A New AR Game

Microsoft celebrates the Minecraft’s 10th anniversary with the reveal of a new AR game Minecraft Earth.

Microsoft celebrates the Minecraft’s 10th anniversary with the reveal of a new AR game Minecraft Earth. The team has also announced that Mojang’s hit has now sold 176 million copies. That’s a sum of all platforms with Minecraft: Pocket Edition included, so Minecraft could as well be the best-selling game of all time, but we don’t know the exact number behind Tetris.

Minecraft Earth is an all-new free-to-play augmented reality game for mobile that is about bringing the creative nature of Minecraft to the real world.

The game will let players explore their neighborhoods to find blocks and unique mobs for builds. “Once you have them, any flat surface is an opportunity to build. Team up with friends to create amazing builds on Build Plates, and then place them in the real world to explore at life-size. You can even put your survival skills to the test and battle mobs IRL,” states the description. Sounds like a fun time for the fans.

The game is based on state-of-the-art Microsoft technology like Azure Spatial Anchors AR tracking and PlayFab integration to bring the Minecraft Earth experience to life.
