Gothic's Old Camp Recreated in Unreal Engine 5

The artist utilized Megascans assets and Ultra Dynamic Sky to recreate the game's atmosphere.

3D Environment Artist Mihai Nicula revealed an Old Camp fan art, a beautiful and thorough recreation of Old Camp from the first Gothic game. The first iteration of this project was shown a year ago and was powered by Unreal Engine 4 but this time, the artist transferred the project to UE5 to see how Nanite and Lumen behave. Additionally, the artist utilized Quixel Megascans assets and Ultra Dynamic Sky to create an authentic atmosphere.

"I wanted to test a quick Time of Day with Lumen to see how it goes. I say for a first test, it's handling it pretty well," commented the artist. "So far so good I'd say for a 2 days conversion project. This time I don't have any HDR as I had in the original but full volumetric clouds. Probably will do a time-lapse as well."

And here's the UE4-powered version of the location:
