Insider Gaming: Next Battlefield Seems Safe & Predictable

Looks like returning to its roots wont do much for the series.

After Battlefield 2042 didn't meet many expectations, some players are looking forward to the next game in the franchise hoping for a better experience. They shouldn't get too excited, however, as it doesn't seem like the developers will take any risks with this one.

According to Insider Gaming's Tom Henderson, the next Battlefield title looks "predictable", and the team behind it is playing it safe.

"Ever since OG DICE started to leave Battlefield, it's been a cursed franchise  (which sucks), but trying to get to the bottom of what's going on.

At first glance, the next Battlefield game seems 'safe' and 'predictable'".

Earlier, he spilled some details about the game saying it goes back to the series' roots and revives 64-player matches and the 4-class system while also overhauling the destruction systems. The shooter takes place around 2025-2030 and focuses on modern military technology. Moreover, Ripple Effect is reportedly working on a free-to-play battle royale title, an idea allegedly brought up by Byron Beede, the general manager of the Battlefield series who used to work on live service for Call of Duty.

The next release in the franchise was meant to be directed by Marcus Lehto, the co-creator of Halo, but he left EA and Ridgeline Games not so long ago and now doesn't have "anything positive to say about EA."

We're likely still far away from this game, but it's said October 2025 is the date you should save. BF2 is the only real battlefield game released. If they want to get back to roots, BF2 is the best start.
