This Indie Game Combines Glitch Horror & Pixel Art in Its Graphics

Of Love and Eternity is an upcoming stylized horror adventure where you play as a damned soul.

Solo Game Developer Winston Powell, a.k.a. Acorn Bringer, has recently shared a new demo providing one more sneak peek at Of Love and Eternity, the developer's upcoming third-person horror adventure game with one of the most unusual visual styles ever.

Powered by Unity, the game immerses players in a chilling world situated between death and the afterlife, where they'll explore desolate and eerie locales while encountering its wicked inhabitants. Players assume the role of a lost and broken soul, that of an unjustly murdered knight, on a quest to reunite with the soul of his beloved. Armed with sheer willpower, he must defend himself against the grim spirits haunting this purgatorial realm.

Undoubtedly, the standout feature of the game is its distinctive graphics, which blend standard pixel art with glitch horror. Despite its heavily stylized nature, Of Love and Eternity still manages to present incredibly unsettling locations and characters, as demonstrated in the previous showcases shared by the developer.

"It is with my sincerest regret to inform you that you are dead. Murdered in fact. Your life was taken in this most unnatural way and so your soul will wander the void as nothing more than a lost and broken memory," reads the game's synopsis. "Somewhere beyond this unfathomable expanse is the fractured soul of your beloved who has suffered equally so. Two parts of one soul set adrift in this impossible abyss and left to wait for the malevolent grip to loosen.

Only by reuniting with your true love may your souls become whole and ascend from that purgatory. Do you hear it? It beckons. Damnation awaits you. Both you and your beloved."

At the moment, Of Love and Eternity is still in development and doesn't have a release date. A demo version of the game, however, is already available and can be downloaded for free via Steam. You can learn more about the upcoming game by visiting Winston Powell's Twitter page.
