Yoeri - Luos_83 - Vleer, a VFX artist and UE4 dev, shared a huge document with the materials, texture, and cascade optimization tips in Unreal Engine 4. Each section goes with a brief description of how a certain setting/mode works. You will find an explanation of how each tip works. 

The file includes tips on:

  • Materials blend modes
  • Texture compression settings
  • Emitters workflow
  • Additional settings

The file also has links to additional sources that might be helpful for your workflow.
