Ubisoft Becomes Corporate Block Producer for Ultra

Ubisoft will test Ultra's UOS, its blockchain based on EOSIO.

Ultra is a game distribution platform that creates the first ecosystem, which unifies all of the gaming activities in one place, using blockchain technology.

Ultra has announced Ubisoft is the first major gaming company that decided to support its blockchain. The French company will work on the infrastructure to validate transactions inside Ultra's blockchain. These transactions will include in-game assets creation, ownership transfers between players, and payments.

Ubisoft has been working on the blockchain technology for a while, and the company has gained valued experience and knowledge to take on the role of the corporate block producer.

As Nicolas Pouard, Ubisoft's Blockchain Initiative Director mentioned, the aim of the collaboration during the trial period is to help to bring the technology to a larger scale and experiment with the possibilities this opens up for the industry.

Both companies have stated the importance of this cooperation and, in particular, its influence on the gaming industry.

Nicolas Gilot, Founder and Co-CEO of Ultra, commented on the announcement: "We're on a mission to shake up the gaming industry by placing power back into the hands of developers and players," said Gilot. "We are paving the way for a first-class game publishing platform, and we couldn't do it without the support of companies such as Ubisoft."

Although the launch date of the UOS blockchain wasn't announced yet, the contribution to the testnet will begin before the end of the year. If the testnet launch succeeds, Ubisoft assures to continue the collaboration for the Mainnet launch.
