Fans Are Making the Half-Life Remake Black Mesa in the Original Engine

The demo has the We Got Hostiles chapter with some twists.

Half-Life fans from the Lambda Team are working on a reimagining of a popular remake Black Mesa in the game's original GoldSrc engine. The team says their aim is to remake Black Mesa with Half-Life assets and "a classic visual style." They promise to "push the limits" of GoldSrc with more realistic environments and detailed textures.

The Lambda Team also wants to make a new base for modding "giving some new dynamics and gameplay features." The developers promise good optimization and high FPS to make the game run on any PC.

Right now, the demo features the We Got Hostiles chapter along with different weapons and enemies crafted by the team. You should also expect some surprises as they wanted this version to feel distinct enough from both Black Mesa and the original Half-Life.
