Check out a talk by Senior Technical Director Kai Stavginski from FMX 2017 on shading in Houdini 16. Basically, it’s an introduction to Houdini 16‘s redesigned shading workflow and enhanced shading capabilities, covering most of the useful features you can use. The latest version of Houdini presented Material Network, a unified context which can be used to build, combine and assign shaders. What you get is a much more flexible workflow, easier to learn and use.
