The Workflow Behind Digital Humans Made With UE's Metahuman & Mocap

Gabriella Krousaniotak has shared the workflow behind the stunning digital humans made using Unreal Engine Metahuman and Mark IV HMC by Faceware.

Back in February, Virtual Production Artist Gabriella Krousaniotak shared the results of an impressive experiment with Unreal Engine Metahuman and a facial mocap device. The artist used the Mark IV HMC by Faceware and the Xsens Link suit/Manus Prime II gloves to capture facial expressions and put them on a digital female robot made by Michael Weisheim Beresin to create extremely realistic animations.

Luckily for us, Gabriella revealed the creation process behind the amazing digital humans demonstrated previously. In a new video, the artist shared the entire Unreal Engine workflow, explained how Faceware's facial mocap device Mark IV HMC is used to create realistic digital expressions, discussed rigging and baking the character, and more. You can check out the full video attached above.
