Tutorial: Tree Rigging For Feature Film
3 June, 2019

Have a look at a tutorial by Hossam Aldin Alaliwi that is dedicated to creating and animating trees in Houdini. The guide is all about the procedural way.

You will learn how to create tree models and how to animate them for different weather scenarios: windy day, normal wind, and more.

What is more, you will learn how to stimulate growth, so your trees can start growing from zero or begin with some leaves and young branches.

The course begins with creating a tree model in SpeedTree (about 1 hour) and then moves to Houdini where you have to create Python code to define the hierarchy of branches and build a procedural wire dynamic network with some math concepts.

You can learn more and get the course for $160 here (currently discounted).

The goal of the ClearCut courses is to teach you a solid workflow that is used in the AAA game industry. The first episode covers the process of creating an AAA fire hydrant from start to finish.

Any future updates are included and will be available for download in case they are released. Next episodes are not included.
