An Artist Recreates Harry's Room From Disco Elysium in Unreal Engine 5

Jonjo Hemmens has shared an update on the Detective's Room project, announcing a collaboration with Jean Zoudi.

Senior Environment Artist at Rocksteady Studios Jonjo Hemmens has shared a new update on the WIP Detective's Room project, a project that aims to recreate Harrier "Harry" Du Bois' Whirling-in-Rags room from Disco Elysium in 3D, providing a glimpse at how the scene looks at the moment and announcing an exciting collaboration with a 3D Artist who was featured here on 80 Level earlier this year.

For those unaware, the Detective's Room project started back in February, with Jonjo regularly sharing insightful blog posts as the environment steadily approaches completion. With the latest "Update 6", the author announced a partnership with Jean Zoudi, whom you might remember for creating a highly realistic Harry model and explaining how it was made back in May, who allowed Jonjo to use said model for the scene.

Besides that, the new blog post also provided a closer look at some of the new 3D assets and materials created for the scene, including the weathered floor and wallpapers, a broken door model, a front windowed wall, the record player, and more. According to the artist, the scene is being made using Blender, Substance 3D Painter/Designer, Marvelous Designer, and Unreal Engine 5.

"Hopefully only 1 or 2 more blog posts before it's done," commented the creator on the current state of the project. "Getting pretty close to the finishing line now I think!"
